Sunset from the Terrace

La scorsa settimana ero all'ultimo piano di un famoso palazzo di Trieste per fotografare la sua terrazza e un bellissimo tramonto. Il palazzo è posseduto dalle Assicurazioni Generali, la più grande società europea di assicurazioni. In ultimo piano il palazzo gestisce "Il Circolo", dove gli impiegati possono andare per bere o mangiare, o partecipare ad eventi culturali, artistici o musicali. Quel giorno ho fatto un buon lavoro fotografico, non solo al palazzo e la sua terrazza, ma anche al tramonto, al panorama della città, al cielo durante tutta la serata.

Last week I was on the top of a famous building in Trieste to photograph its terrace with a beautiful sunset. The building is owned by Generali Group Company, the biggest european reassurance company. On the top level of the building there is the Company Club, where employees can go for drink or eat lunches, or participate for cultural events, art, music. That day I did a good photographic work, not only the building and its terrace but the sunset, the panorama, and the sky also.

The Cat on the Beach!

La scorsa estate eravamo in vacanza in Croazia quando arrivò una bellissima gatta nera e bianca, che si distese tra noi sui nostri asciugamani. Questa è la prima volta che vedo un gatto così vicino al mare, che cammina sugli scoglio e che sembra veramente a suo agio con tutti, persone e turisti. La gatta vive in una casetta poco lontano, a ridosso della riva del mare. Quel giorno lei arrivò da noi per starsene distesa sui nostri asciugamani tutto il pomeriggio..

Last summer we were on holiday on a beach in Croatia when a beautiful black and white cat (another lady) arrived to stay there with us. This was the first time I saw a cat near the seaside, looking very confortable with tourists and people. She lives into a pretty house near the seashore. That day she went on our beach towels to stay all the afternoon..

Walking through Serravalle

Serravalle e Ceneda sono due antiche cittadine romaniche che attualmente fanno aprte della città di Vittorio Veneto. Le due città furono costruite dai romani attorno l'anno 50DC; probabilmente Serravalle era stata costruita per difendere Ceneda dai barbari che potevano arrivare da nord. Consiglio a chi può farlo di visitare queste cittadine, che sono interessantissime dal punto di vista storico, con i loro palazzi, piazze lastricate in pietra d'Istria, antiche chiese e ristoranti.

Serravalle, and Ceneda, are two romanic and ancient towns, now they form the modern town of Vittorio Veneto. The two towns were built up by the romans around the 50AD.
I find these ancient villages very interesting to visit, the little roads, the old buildings, the romanic churches, the ancient restaurants.. During that little walk I did some photographs, but I want to have more time in the next future to take the interesting parts of them.

The Gray Cat

Una bellissima gatta grigia che era interessata a me e alla mia Canon. Durante una camminata a Lipica lei stava sonnecchiando sul tetto della mia macchina quando mi vide e scese correndomi incontro per delle coccole.. o era più interessata ad avere del cibo?? OPS!!

A beautiful cool gray cat who was interested in me and my camera! During a walk on the farm of Lipica, she (yes, the cat is a lady) was standing on the top of my car and when she saw me she went down just to run straight to me for have some cuddles.. or was she more interested in food?? OPS!!

Sant'Augusta di Serravalle

Serravalle è uno dei paesi che ha successivamente composto Vittorio Veneto. Durante il primo secolo c'era un ricco guerriero allemanno che risiedeva in paese ed era in netto contrasto con la religione cristiana. Non così sua figlia, che abbracciò in segreto la religione. Appena il padre la scoprì la fece arrestare cercando di farla apostatare, ma lei rifiutò, e così fu torturata e decapitata attorno all'anno 100. Su un'alta collina si può andare per una camminata tra gli alberi secolari fino alla chiesa di Sant'Augusta. Le sue ossa sono esposte nella chiesa. Vicino c'è anche un vecchio locale del 1500 dove si possono gustare prelibati piatti veneti. C'è anche una veduta panoramica della vecchia Serravalle e di Vittorio Veneto.

Serravalle is the old village who became part of the city of Vittorio Veneto. During the first century there was a rich german warrior and lord in Serravalle who was in high contrast with the christianity. But not his daughter, Augusta, that secretly become a christian. His father found out what Augusta was and he tried to get her out of the hated religion. She never apostatized and so she was tortured and beheaded around 100AD. On an high hill, between the secolar trees, you can go for a walk to the S. Augusta's Church. In the Church there are the bones of S. Agata. On the top there is the Church and a little old pub, about the XV century where eat particular dishes of the Veneto region. There is also a panoramic view of the old town of Serravalle and on the city of Vittorio Veneto.

The White Lipizzaner Horses

Vicino a Trieste appena oltre il confine tra Italia e Slovenia ci sono le scuderie dei cavalli Lipizzani, istituite nel lontano 1580 durante l'impero austro-ungarico. Questi cavalli sono utilizzati, tra l'altro, per un bellissimo spettacolo nel quale danzano a ritmo di valtzer. Nel centro di Lipica si possono trovare alberghi, casinò, una piscina, un campo di golf, e il centro benessere, ristoranti dove gustare ottimi piatti delle nostre zone. Nel set che ho fotografato si possono vedere i cavalli che ho fotografato il 10 di gennaio, in una mattina nebbiosa. Solo camminando lungo i viali delle scuderie potete vederli pascolare, vicino a voi, sui verdi prati.

Near the city of Trieste, just out of the borderline between Italy and Slovenia there is the beautiful Lipica Stud Farm, formed in the late 1580 during the austro-hungarian empire. These horses are used for a spectacular waltz, where you can see them dancing! In the center you can find hotels, a swimmingpool, a casino, a ground for playing golf, plus places where eat the food of our zone.. In the set I photographed you see the pictures I did in the 10th day of January, during a foggy morning. You just walk along the big park and see them browsing, near of you, in the green meadows near you.

Water

Devo dire che queste foto sono il primo e vero esperimento di questo tipo di macro, non quelle del latte. Dopo una decina di giorni senza vederle devo dire che le trovo più interessanti della prima volta che le ho viste. Mi piace guardarle, forse perché adoro certe tonalità dei colori blu.

I must say that: these photograph were the first experiment of the macro shots, not the milk ones. After ten days without watching them I must say I find them more interesting than in the first time I saw them. I just love to see them all, maybe because I love them for the blue colours.

Milk

Durante la serata ho provato a scattare delle foto macro, usando un treppiede e una tazza di latte. L'unica cosa che non mi piace è il colore delle immagini, con dominanti blu o gialle. Credo dipenda dal bilanciamento del bianco, e dai flash della mia macchina (non possiedo flash professionali o macro-flash).

During the evening I tried to get some photographs about the macro shots, using a tripod and a cup of milk. The only thing that don't make me very happy is the colours of the shots. I tried to get a good white balance, and I retouched the pictures with curves and layers using Photoshop, but I really don't love the colours, with a blue or a yellow dominance. I think the problem is the initial balance and the flash of my camera (I don't own a professional flash or a macro-flash).

Aikido Seminar

Dopo una settimana di inattività sul blog ritorno con delle immagini del nostro seminario di Aikido del passato weekend, con il Maestro Visentini. Di solito facciamo un seminario di due giorni, sabato pomeriggio e domenica mattina, e organizziamo la cena in dojo per tutti i partecipanti. Al seminario abbiamo la possibilità di incontrare ragazzi e maestri di altre città, con i quali studiamo tecniche di combattimento, di jo (bastone) e di bokken (spada). Questa volta le uniche foto mie sono quelle inerenti alla cena.

After one week without any post I'm back with some pictures about the Aikido Seminar we did the past weekend, with Visentini Sensei. We use to do a seminar of two days, on saturday afternoon and on sunday morning, and we organize a dinner in the dojo for all the seminar's participants. At the seminar we have the possibility to meet guys and teachers of other towns, we study body techniques and jo (stick) and ken (japan sword) techniques. This time I did only the photographs during the dinner on our dojo.
