The dinosaur under the rain

Sul magazzino dei costruttori di dinosauri la pioggia stava cadendo dalla prima mattina. Sin dall'alba il cielo era grigio, con una piccola pioggerella fitta fitta e loro, fumando una sigaretta, guardavano il traffico sulla strada attraverso i vetri rotti delle finestre.
Ogni tanto c'era un tempo clemente per qualche minuto, ma dopo la piccola pausa una sequenza di nuvole nere portava giù una pioggia torrenziale. Alla fine della giornata una piccola apertura nelle nuvole fece veder loro un piccolo pallido sole riflesso nelle pozzanghere. Il grande e vecchio dinosauro stava ancora aspettando nell'hangar, appeso con le sue catene, tra gli attrezzi da lavoro.

On the store of the dino-builders the rain was falling dawn since early morning. Since the dawn the sky was gray, with a little hard rain and them, smoking a cigarette, they were watching the traffic on the road through the broken windows.
Sometimes there was a mild weather for minutes, but after the little break a sequence of dark clouds was bringing down a torrential rain. At the end of the day a little opening in the clouds let them see a pale sun reflected on the big puddles. The big old dinosaur was still waiting in the hangar, hanged up with its chains, between all the tools.

Dinosaur

Questo è uno dei dinosauri costruiti dal team nel quale lavora il mio amico Zac. Come scrissi mesi fa loro costruiscono dinosauri assemblando le ossa originali e costruendo le mancanti con resine sintetiche. Il team li assembla e dopo i controlli di costruzione, lo smonta e lo invia a destinazione in grosse casse. Questo è stato mandato in un centro commerciale del Qatar, lo stesso sito del precedente dinosauro che ho fotografato, nel quale viene ricreata una scena di caccia. Questo dinosauro era erbivoro, il precedente era carnivoro.

That one is one of the dinosaurs built by the team in which my friend Zac works. As I wrote months ago they built dinosaurs assembling the original bones and creating the missing ones with special synthetic resins. The team built and assemble them, and after a check of the work, the dino is dismantled and shipped to its destination. That one was sent to a commercial center of Qatar, the same site of the first one I photographed the last time, they are recreating a hunting scenery. That dinosaur was herbivorous, the old one was carnivorous.

Jaws

Un piccolo set dedicato alle fauci di uno squalo preistorico. I denti misurano 10-12 centimetri.. nuotargli vicino era sicuramente un ottimo per essere mangiati!

A little set dedicated to the jaws of a big prehistoric shark. The teeth are long about four or five inches.. swimming near of it it was surely a good way to be eaten!

Stands

Mase'

During the Barcolana's days there are also a lot of stands about the tipical cuisine of Trieste, influenced by the austro-hungarian period. Mase', the stand in the picture, is one of them. They are specialized in cooking various parts of pork in the traditional way.










The dish you see is made up of "hand cutted" slices of cooked ham (prepared wrapped in bread and cooked), with grated radish, a boiled pork sausage, bread, and a slice of cake called "presnitz" (containing coarsely chopped raisins, almonds, walnuts, pine nuts, candied fruit..).

Mime on the Sunset

During the Barcolana's days you obviously find a lot of personages, like mimes, players and so on.. that was very interesting! He was maked-up like if there was a strong windy day (our Bora), and he was walking like if the wind was blowing all in front of him. He was coupled with a guitar jazz player.

Barcolana

Every year, in the first week of October, in Trieste you can enjoy the Barcolana's yacht race. Barcolana is the biggest regatta in the Mediterranean Sea. Famous skippers, yachts and crews are racing every year from everywhere.. The number of boats who is taking part to the race is about 2000. I went to see how the things there were, in the day before the race, during the magnificent sunset of an extraordinary hot day of October.
