Mase'

During the Barcolana's days there are also a lot of stands about the tipical cuisine of Trieste, influenced by the austro-hungarian period. Mase', the stand in the picture, is one of them. They are specialized in cooking various parts of pork in the traditional way.










The dish you see is made up of "hand cutted" slices of cooked ham (prepared wrapped in bread and cooked), with grated radish, a boiled pork sausage, bread, and a slice of cake called "presnitz" (containing coarsely chopped raisins, almonds, walnuts, pine nuts, candied fruit..).

Mime on the Sunset

During the Barcolana's days you obviously find a lot of personages, like mimes, players and so on.. that was very interesting! He was maked-up like if there was a strong windy day (our Bora), and he was walking like if the wind was blowing all in front of him. He was coupled with a guitar jazz player.

Barcolana

Every year, in the first week of October, in Trieste you can enjoy the Barcolana's yacht race. Barcolana is the biggest regatta in the Mediterranean Sea. Famous skippers, yachts and crews are racing every year from everywhere.. The number of boats who is taking part to the race is about 2000. I went to see how the things there were, in the day before the race, during the magnificent sunset of an extraordinary hot day of October.

Nation's Cup

Oggi mattinata di libertà dal lavoro.. me la prendo comoda per andare, sulle rive, per scattare un po' di foto alla Nation's Cup.

Alla fine le foto sono diventate 170, scattate in quasi 4 ore.

Le barche che ho fotografato sono "Luna Rossa" e "Mascalzone Latino".

La gara viene fatta a ridosso delle rive di Trieste, nello spazio di mare di fronte a Piazza dell'Unità, Molo Audace e Molo Fratelli Bandiera.
